decay
We perceive decay at the moment when the stability of a system is threatened and dissolution becomes imminent. But does decay necessarily mean the end of a system? Does decay, in its ultimate sense, not actually occur? Or is decay, in reality, much more of a reconstruction that transforms a system from one state to the next, thus representing an ongoing process?
These questions initiate a thematic exploration that builds upon the movement system developed within my last production, "InTension." My research aims to enable and investigate the experience of disintegration—reconstruction/transformation—of the dance communication system. To this end, research and choreography methods are being developed that utilize digital organizational and communication tools, as well as the technology of virtual spaces: a digital-analog experiment that challenges disintegration and brings with it the possibility of movement transformation.
